Southampton Village Police Department & Justice Center
Southampton, NY • 2002
The Southampton Village Justice Center is a new 19,000 square foot facility completed in Spring 2002. The new facility includes all of the modern amenities for a fully functioning police station including a secure sally port, holding cells, communication center, training and locker rooms, offices, public meeting rooms, and a village court. The facility makes references to many vernacular architectural details without any literal interpretations. Communication antennas were placed as architectural elements on the roof, instead of utilizing an communications tower. The “widow’s walk” provides a safe and convenient method to inspect and service rooftop equipment. This building also features an energy efficient geothermal heating/cooling system. Separation of public, private and secure spaces ensures a safe and comfortable facility for the inhabitants.
